Alaska man who broke dog's teeth sent to jail Published Tuesday, September 1, 2009 ANCHORAGE, Alaska - An Anchorage Superior Court judge sentenced a man Tuesday to 300 days in jail for breaking his Rottweiler's teeth with a muzzle-loading rifle. Judge Richard Postma also sentenced Robert McGowan to 10 years probation, a time in which he cannot own an animal. A prosecutor said the attack occurred in February, when the 50-year-old McGowan returned home from celebrating the end of his probation at a local bar. He had locked the dog named Harley in a bedroom for hours and was upset to find he had soiled the carpet. That's when McGowan broke Harley's teeth and stabbed him with the rifle. A veterinarian testified she had never examined an animal with such severe oral trauma. However, KTUU-TV reports that Harley is doing well following at least two corrective surgeries. source: http://newsminer.com/news/2009/sep/01/alaska-man-who-broke-dogs-teeth-sent-jail/ |
